I am learning to place a sentence in order.

I am learning to construct a sentence, reading it as I go to make sure my reading makes sense.

"I can listen to my voice so I know the word and the story." said Ruby

I am learning to know doubles.

Ruby, you are able to match the double numbers to 10.  Next we will be working on knowing the doubles to 20.

"I can use my fingers to help me work out my doubles.  I know what double 5 is - 10" said Ruby

Elm Park 50th Birthday Party

We launched our Celebration Inquiry with a huge party for Elm Park School. This year our school will turn 50! We had a great day with our school friends and our whanau.

Ruby said, "We had a big party. I got the spinning top in the treasure hunt and I could spin it really well."

I am learning to form my numerals correctly.

I am learning to write my numbers around the right way.  I am able to write up to 20 correctly, but I am learning to form 15,16,18 correctly.

Ruby said," I am practising my numbers. Now I can get up to a whole board fill."

I am learning to recognise and read compound words

I am learning to know that compound words are made of two little words. 
I am learning to read the two little words and join them to read the whole word.

Ruby said, " I am reading my homework. If I get stuck I sound it out."

I am learning water safety

I am learning to enter and exit the pool safely.

I am learning to glide on my front with a flutter board.

I am learning to float on my back with and without a board.

I am learning to manage myself and get changed independently.

The whole class got a lot quicker at getting ready!

I am learning to write a story

I am learning to write more than than 2 sentences.

I am learning to start with a capital letter.

I am learning to read my story to see if it makes sense.

Ruby said, " I am proud because I can write a long story!"
